Ontario Immigration recently issued 20 Invitations to Apply in its latest draw held on 27 October. The invites were issued through the Entrepreneur Stream of the province. This was the province’s second draw held in 2021.

Key points:

  • Candidates under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program with 147 – 174 CRS points were issued ITA’s.
  • Only those candidates who submitted an Expression of Interest before 21 October 2021 were eligible for nomination.

About the Entrepreneur Stream:

  • It is an immigration stream under the OINP and governed by the Ontario Immigration Act, 2015. This stream targets entrepreneurs or business owners outside Canada who are interested in starting a new business or buying an existing business in Ontario.
  • It gives an entrepreneur (and up to one foreign national business partner) the opportunity to be nominated for permanent residence once their business has been established in Ontario.

What is the process to get nominated?

  1. Stage 1
  2. The candidate must submit an expression of interest by email.
  3. The candidate must submit an online application if invited by Ontario Immigration.
  4. Applicant and the business partner (if applicable) must attend a mandatory interview.
  5. If all of the above is successful, the candidate must sign a performance agreement with Ontario Immigration.
  1. Stage 2
  2. The candidate is issued a temporary work permit support letter so they can apply for a temporary work permit.
  3. Candidate has a time of 20 months from date of arriving in Ontario to implement the business plan and submit a final report to the IRCC
  4. If the business meets all requirements, IRCC asks the candidate for documentation to ensure eligibility for nomination for PR.
