Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra announced on Thursday, 17th March that starting from 1st April, fully-vaccinated travelers will be allowed to enter Canada without having to get tested for COVID-19. However, they can still be chosen for mandatory random testing which they can choose to take at the airport, or at home.
Despite relaxing health and travel restrictions, and removing the travel advisory on its official website, the Canadian government is still warning travelers to be cautious about the health risks posed during international travel.
All Canadian travelers, vaccination or unvaccinated, would still need to submit their information and quarantine plan on the ArriveCAN app prior to arrival in the country. Failure of completion of the information may cause the traveler to have to test on arrival at the airport/port of entry and undergo a mandatory quarantine for 14 days, regardless of their vaccination status. Those traveling by plane must fill in the information at least 72 hours before boarding the flight.

- Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty
- Bharat Biotech Covaxin
- Johnson & Johnson / Janssen
- Moderna Spikevax
- AstraZeneca Vaxzevria / Covishield
- Sinopharm BIBP
- CoronaVac / Sinovac / PiCoVacc
- Covovax / Novavax / Nuvaxovid
Rules for Vaccinated Travelers:
- Vaccinated travelers should receive their last dose of the vaccine at least 14 days before arrival in Canada.
- Be asymptomatic upon arrival at port of entry
- Proof of vaccination that is in English or French, if not in these two languages, a certified translation needs to be provided.
Rules for Unvaccinated Travelers:
Unvaccinated travelers or those who have been only partially vaccinated will need to provide proof of any of the following to enter Canada. This rule applies to all those who are aged 5 years or older.
- negative molecular test, administered by an accredited and recognized lab, taken outside of Canada no more than 72 hours before arrival at the port of entry or airport.
- negative antigen test, administered by an accredited and recognized lab, taken outside of Canada no more than 24 hours before arrival at the port of entry or airport.
- positive antigen test results are not accepted by the government of Canada.
