Canada ranks among the fastest-growing country among the G7 nations owing its incredible growth to its immigration policies that welcome immigrants and provide various advantages despite the Covid-19 pandemic that rocked the world.
Canada’s current dire labor situation is in turn prompting the country to boost immigration to fill these manpower gaps. Better immigration policies, fewer processing times, more pathways, and ease of work permit applications have made Canada the immigrants’ choice when it comes to choosing the country to move to.
According to the latest report released by Statistics Canada on February 9th, Canada’s growth is almost double that of other nations under the G7, even more than the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, and the European Union.
“Most of that growth is attributable to more people arriving here from around the world to start a new life. Approximately 1.8 million more people were calling Canada home in 2021 compared with five years earlier, with four in five of these having immigrated to Canada since 2016.”
In January, Canada issued more than 4,500 invites to candidates to apply for
permanent residence through the country’s Provincial Nominee Programs. Canada has continued to accept applications, issue invites, and process applications for
these PNP streams throughout the coronavirus pandemic and the consequent travel
restrictions. It is projected that in 2022, over 80,000 immigrants are expected to become
permanent residents of Canada through the PNP.
The IRCC has recently launched an online tool and portal for tracking spousal and child
sponsorship immigration applications online on their website. This tool can be accessed
by applicants and their representatives.
The introduction of this online tool is aimed to minimize delays of the applications and
provide relief to candidates by returning processing times to the service standard of 12
months.
