Ontario Immigration recently issued 537 Expression to Apply (ITA’s) through its Immigrant Nominee Program. In the draw held on October 20, ITA’s were sent out through three streams:

  1. Masters Graduates stream
  2. Ph.D. Graduates stream
  3. Employer Job Offer: Foreign Workers stream

Steps to apply:

To qualify for the Master’s Graduate or Ph.D. Graduate streams, the candidate must create a profile in the OINP e-Filing Portal first. The candidate can then apply and register an Expression of Interest for the stream. The application must be made within two years of getting the graduate degree from an eligible Ontario university.

The application fee is $1,500 and covers the cost of processing the application.

Requirements of Masters Graduate Stream:

This stream targets international students who have a master’s degree from an eligible Ontario university and gives them the opportunity to obtain PR without a job offer. The requirements to check before applying are:

  • The candidate must graduate from, and complete a Master’s degree from an eligible university in Ontario. The course duration should be at least one-year full-time.
  • At the time of application apply, the candidate must be either: living in Ontario with legal status (study permit, work permit, visitor record) OR living outside Canada. Applicants from candidates living in a province or territory in Canada other than Ontario will be rejected.
  • Must have a minimum level 7 or above in CLB/NCLC in English or in French.
  • Candidates must have legally lived in Ontario for at least one year in the past two years before they apply, i.e 2019-2021.
  • Candidates must intend to live in Ontario after they have been approved for permanent residence.
  • Have sufficient funds to settle down in the province.

Required supporting documents:

  • All supporting documents must be scanned and uploaded in the online application, or else the application will be regarded as “incomplete”
  • A PDF copy of the Attestation Form should be printed, signed in ink by the candidate, and uploaded to the “Other” tab under Supporting Documents.
  • The date of signing the Attestation Form should be the same as the date of submission of Expression of Interest (EOI)
  • If a supporting document is not in English or French, the candidate must attach a copy and translation of the document.
