Ontario Immigration issued 755 NOI’s through the provincial Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream in its latest draw. In the draw held on July 14, Ontario Immigration invited candidates who had submitted their Express Entry profiles 12 months prior to the date of the draw. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points required to qualify was 310.
These draws were started by Ontario Immigration to address labor shortages in the technology sector of the province.
Steps of the application process:
● The candidate creates a profile on the IRCC website.
● The candidate checks and submits their profile into the stream of their choosing.
● Candidates selected from the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream pool receive a Notification of Interest from the IRCC.
● From the date of receiving an NOI, the candidate has 45 calendar days to complete their application.
● The candidate must apply through the OINP e-Filing Portal, it takes about three hours to complete the application. Candidates can save the application and return to complete it later.
● While submitting, the candidate needs to check the supporting documents and pay an application fee of $1,500 to apply.
● All supporting documents must be scanned and uploaded to the online application. Refer to the document checklist for Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Stream for a list of mandatory documents.
● If a supporting document is not in English or French, the candidate must provide a copy of the original document and a notarized translation of the document.
The Express Entry Tech Draws target the occupations mentioned below:
1. NOC 7201 – Contractors and supervisors, machining, metal forming, shaping and erecting trades and related occupations
2. NOC 7202 – Contractors and supervisors, electrical trades,and telecommunications occupations
3. NOC 7203 – Contractors and supervisors, pipefitting trades
4. NOC 7204 – Contractors and supervisors, carpentry trades
5. NOC 7205 – Contractors and supervisors, other construction trades, installers, repairers, and servicers
6. NOC 7232 – Tool and die makers
7. NOC 7233 – Sheet metal workers
8. NOC 7234– Boilermakers
9. NOC 7235 – Structural metal and platework fabricators and fitters
10. NOC 7236 – Ironworkers
11. NOC 7237 – Welders and related machine operators
12. NOC 7241 – Electricians (except industrial and power system)
13. NOC 7242 – Industrial electricians
14. NOC 7244 – Electrical power line and cable workers
15. NOC 7245 – Telecommunications line and cable workers
16. NOC 7251 – Plumbers
17. NOC 7252 – Steamfitters, pipefitters, and sprinkler system installers
18. NOC 7271 – Carpenters
19. NOC 7281 – Bricklayers
20. NOC 7282 – Concrete finishers
21. NOC 7283 – Tile setters
22. NOC 7284 – Plasterers, drywall installers and finishers and lathers
23. NOC 7291 – Roofers and shinglers
