Ontario held four Expression of Interest draws and issued 995 invitations for foreign workers and international students on September 21. Each stream had two draws conducted for it. In order to qualify for these draws, the candidates to create their profiles between April 28 and September 21, 2021.
Up to 406 candidates being invited via the foreign worker stream, a general draw, and 36 candidates were invited via the Regional Immigration Pilot. The minimum score for the former was 37 points on the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program points grid.
532 invitations were issued via the International student stream, which is a general draw. The minimum score was 61 points for this draw. An additional targeted draw, the Regional Immigration Pilot draw issued 30 invitations to candidates.
Candidates can apply to the Ontario EOI through the following streams:
- Employer Job Offer stream
- In-Demand Skills stream
- International Student stream
- Foreign Worker stream
- Masters Graduate
- Ph.D. Graduate
The ranking system awards points based on the following categories:
- The candidate’s level of education and field of study or work.
- Proficiency in English or French.
- The candidate’s intention to settle outside of the Greater Toronto Area.
- The applicant’s skill and work experience level, history of earning and income, other factors relevant to prospects in Ontario job market.
- The labor market needs in Ontario.
To qualify for the Foreign Worker Stream: the applicant must have:
- A permanent and full-time job offer under NOC 0, A or B that meets the median wage levels for Ontario
- A job offer in a position that is necessary to the business
- For those already working, the expected salary must be equal to or greater than the current wage being paid
- Two consecutive years of relevant work experience in the previous five years before the date of application
- Relevant mandatory licensing in Ontario, if the job offer requires
- Be living abroad, working, studying, or visiting Canada on a valid legal permit
- The Intention to settle in Ontario
To qualify for the International Student Stream the applicant must have:
- A permanent and full-time job offer under NOC 0, A or B that meets the median wage levels for Ontario
- A job offer in a position that is necessary to the business
- For those already working, the expected salary must be equal to or greater than the current wage being paid
- Graduated or meet the requirements of a full time two-year degree (minimum) from a publicly-funded Canadian college or university or,
- Graduated or met requirements of a full-time minimum one-year post-graduate diploma program from a publicly-funded Canadian college or university
- Already completed at least half the study in Canada
- Applied within two years from the date the candidate has completed the course
- Legal status in Ontario
- Intention to settle in Ontario
