Alberta immigration announced that Ukrainians who apply to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program are eligible for priority processing in the province along with reimbursement of application fees for those that applied on or after February 24.

The only priority right now for the candidates is passing the language ability requirements. Requirements are also being relaxed as these candidates can submit incomplete applications i.e., if they are unable to produce the required documents they can still apply.

The announcement reads as follows:

“In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, temporary processing measures are now in place to assist Ukrainian nationals who apply to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program. These measures will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.”

The Alberta Advantage Immigrant Nominee Program is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta. The Express Entry candidates who are nominated must be skilled, fill job shortages or buy or start a business in Alberta. This program is run by the governments of Alberta and Canada.
