Canada doubles its growth and ranks amongst the fastest growing in the G7 nations

Syed Khan – February 13, 2022

Canada ranks among the fastest-growing country among the G7 nations owing its incredible growth to its immigration policies that welcome immigrants and provide various advantages despite the Covid-19 pandemic that rocked the world.

Canada’s current dire labor situation is in turn prompting the country to boost immigration to fill these manpower gaps. Better immigration policies, fewer processing times, more pathways, and ease of work permit applications have made Canada the immigrants’ choice when it comes to choosing the country to move to.

According to the latest report released by Statistics Canada on February 9th, Canada’s growth is almost double that of other nations under the G7, even more than the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, and the European Union.

“Most of that growth is attributable to more people arriving here from around the world to start a new life. Approximately 1.8 million more people were calling Canada home in 2021 compared with five years earlier, with four in five of these having immigrated to Canada since 2016.”

In January, Canada issued more than 4,500 invites to candidates to apply for

permanent residence through the country’s Provincial Nominee Programs. Canada has continued to accept applications, issue invites, and process applications for

these PNP streams throughout the coronavirus pandemic and the consequent travel

restrictions. It is projected that in 2022, over 80,000 immigrants are expected to become

permanent residents of Canada through the PNP.

The IRCC has recently launched an online tool and portal for tracking spousal and child

sponsorship immigration applications online on their website. This tool can be accessed

by applicants and their representatives.

The introduction of this online tool is aimed to minimize delays of the applications and

provide relief to candidates by returning processing times to the service standard of 12

months.

IRCC invites 1,082 Express Entry candidates to apply for Permanent Residence

Syed Khan – February 17, 2022,

The IRCC recently held its Express Entry draw on 16 February and has sent invites to Express Entry candidates to apply for PR. All these invitations were sent to candidates nominated via the PNP.

The applicants are ranked in the pool using the CRS, a points-based system. The candidates who scored the maximum CRS points are then invited to apply for permanent residence. The minimum cut-off score to qualify was 710 (with the nomination). If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

Each invitation round has a set of instructions that are posted online at the time of the round and which are used by the IRCC to invite candidates from the Express Entry pool. The instructions include:

  • The date and time of the invitation round
  • The number of candidates to get an ITA
  • The list of immigration program(s) included in the round

All throughout 2021, the IRCC had targeted on inviting Express Entry candidates from Provincial Nominee Class and Canadian Experience Class. Up till now in 2022, the IRCC has issued 1,428 ITA’s. In 2021, IRCC invited 113,685 candidates under Express Entry.

The IRCC uses the Express Entry system to choose skilled workers based on their skills and ability to contribute to Canada’s economy. It manages applications for three economic immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Canadian Experience Class

Provinces and territories can also recruit candidates from the Express Entry pool through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to meet local labor market needs.
